Weavers Way’s discount program for member-owners on assistance makes wholesome food and eco-friendly products more affordable to everyone in our community. Food For All means more people coming together and supporting a dynamic locally owned cooperative committed to offering healthier food choices, promoting social justice and protecting the planet.
What is Food For All?
- Food For All provides a 10 percent discount on nearly every product in the store.
- Food For All provides for a reduced minimum equity payment of $5 per year to insure that the Co-op equity investment isn’t a burden to struggling families.
- Both new and existing Weavers Way members can qualify for Food For All if they currently receive food stamps (SNAP), Medicaid, TANF—Cash Assistance, WIC, SSDI, SSI or Military Disability.
- Food For All discounts are handled discreetly, right at the cash register.
The Food For All discount applies to items beyond what SNAP and WIC cover, from prepared foods in the deli to pet food and the high-quality sustainably produced bath and body products available at Weavers Way Across the Way and Weavers Way Next Door. (Exceptions are items like SEPTA tokens and newspapers.)
Food For All participants are encouraged to become working members and receive the 5 percent working member discount as well, for a total of 15 percent. For six hours per year per household member, working members receive their household’s discount at the register — and they get the added benefit of being part of the internal workings of their Co-op and contributing to its success.
Programs like Food For All are being implemented at co-ops around the country. We thank the Weavers Way Food Justice Committee for helping us make this important commitment to our own community, and extend an invitation to anyone interested to join this very dynamic group.
