Workshop: Planting and Q&A with Good Host Plants

Wednesday, September 25, 2019 - 5:30pm to 7:00pm

Native plants are the building blocks of a healthy ecosystem. We can extend the habitat of our local green spaces depending on what we plant in our own gardens. Native plants attract pollinators and act as host plants for caterpillars and other beneficial insects.

September/October is an ideal time to plant. With the 90-degree days and the threat of drought behind us, plants can focus their energy on growing deep roots before the ground freezes and will get a jump on spring by spending a winter in the ground. Join Weavers Way member and PA master naturalist John Janick, owner of Good Host Plants, for an "Ask Me Anything" planting workshop. John will demonstrate proper planting techniques as we fill out the new native pollinator garden bed in front of the CSA while answering your gardening questions. Do you have a hot, dry, sunny area in your yard full of weeds, or space under a shade tree where you'd like to see spring/fall blooms? There's an assortment of native species that will thrive in any condition found in the landscape, so bring your questions!
