Join your fellow Weavers Way owner-members for a delicious buffet dinner, conversation and some Co-op business (including Board election results) at the Spring 2017 General Membership Meeting.
We'll gather at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy's Cherokee Campus. (See SCH map; park in the Blue lot and use Entrance 4.) Our guest speaker is Dr. Keith Brown, Associate Professor of Sociology at Saint Joseph's University (and Weavers Way working member), who will discuss "Buying into Fair Trade." He'll examine the history of fair-trade certification and explain what attracts consumers to these products, and he'll also get into the strengths and limitations of fair trade, ultimately addressing the question, "Is fair trade worth it?"
The GMM is a ZERO-WASTE event. That means you should plan to bring your own dishes and utensils, or rent them from the Environment Committee for $1 per place setting. (Proceeds go to the committee's grant program.) There won't be any paper products or trash cans — it's pack it in, pack it out!
If you didn't already vote for the Weavers Way Board of Directors, you'll have one last chance from 4 to 5 p.m.
Prior to the meeting, you can vote in the stores by paper ballot until noon, Sunday, April 30, or online (login required) at the Online Member Center until voting closes. Visit www.weaversway.coop/election-2017 for details.
